29th August 2018
Rwanda Development Board Chief Operating Officer Emmanuel Hategeka and Head of ICT Paula Ingabire were in Singapore this week for the biennial Africa-Singapore Business Forum 2018.
‘The Africa Singapore Business Forum (ASBF) is the premier platform for business exchange and fostering trade between Africa and Asia.
Organised by Enterprise Singapore, the forum has brought together over 2,000 business and government leaders from 30 countries to explore partnerships and growth opportunities between these two dynamic regions.
ASBF 2018 will address critical issues and identify opportunities in key sectors, including real estate, manufacturing, digital technology, oil and gas, and financing.’
On the second day of the Forum, Mr Hategeka gave a presentation to a packed audience at the East Africa region session. Representatives from Ethiopia, Kenya were also present.
Mr Hategeka, who addressed approximately 110 delegates from businesses and government agencies from Asia and Africa, highlighted Rwanda’s progress and outlined the supporting environment that Rwanda has achieved for businesses and investments.
When asked what makes Rwanda unique, Mr Hategeka describes the peace of mind that Rwanda is able to provide to investors, Rwanda’s location in the heart of Africa, and Rwanda’s focus on innovation.
“The focus of the country is on innovation, on quality. So we prefer to open up ourselves to become a proof of concept country. If you have a brilliant idea, Rwanda is the place to start. That is why you have seen players like Zipline and Volkswagen in the country.
This is why we are building an innovation ecosystem, this is why we are investing more in skills, and this is why we welcome you to join us,” said Mr Hategeka.
