Rwanda’s High Commissioner presents credentials to Governor-General of New Zealand

His Excellency Jean de Dieu Uwihanganye, High Commissioner of the Republic of Rwanda to New Zealand presented his Letter of Credence to Her Excellency the Rt Hon Dame Patsy Reddy, Governor-General of New Zealand, in a virtual Ceremony on Monday 30 June 2020.
In his speech addressed to Governor-General Reddy, Ambassador Jean de Dieu Uwihanganye conveyed warm greetings from the President of the Republic of Rwanda and congratulated New Zealand on its successful management of the COVID-19 pandemic. Highlighting warm bilateral relations between Rwanda and New Zealand, His Excellency expressed deep appreciation for New Zealand’s longstanding support in denouncing the Genocide Against the Tutsi and look forward to strengthening bilateral cooperation in peacekeeping, aviation, agriculture, energy and tourism during his tenure as High Commissioner.
Governor-General Reddy congratulated the High Commissioner and conveyed admiration of the key role Rwanda is playing in the African Union on issues of peace, security and governance. In particular, Her Excellency expressed admiration towards Rwanda’s promotion of women, especially in leadership positions. The Governor-General further acknowledges the hard work that Rwanda has put into in organizing the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) 2020, and expressed hopes that the meeting can reconvene at an appropriate time in the future.
