Doing business in Rwanda as focus in Singapore Business Federation’s webinar

A Rwanda-focused webinar on ‘Understanding the Market developments and Opportunities in Rwanda’ was held today to provide an overview of the economy, business and investment opportunities in Rwanda for the Singapore business community. This webinar, organized as part of the GlobalConnect@SBF, was an initiative of the Singapore Business Federation (SBF) in partnership with Rwanda High Commission, Enterprise Singapore, Private Sector Federation and Rwanda Development Board.

The webinar conducted on zoom attracted over 40 different Singapore companies and more than 190 views was garnered as it was broadcasted live on Facebook.

Among the speakers at the webinar included RDB CEO Clare Akamanzi, SBF Africa Business Group Vice Chairman Neal Chandaria, High Commissioner of Rwanda to Singapore Amb Jean de Dieu Uwihanganye, PSF Chief Operations Officer Faustin Karasira and RDB Head of Investment Marketing Department Lucky Philip.

SBF Africa Business Group Vice Chairman Neal Chandaria opened the session on an optimistic note, stating “I am confident that today’s session will be beneficial to our Singapore business community as well as friends around the world who are interested to learn about the latest developments and sectoral opportunities in Rwanda.”

In his opening remarks, H.E. Jean de Dieu Uwihanganye welcomed attendees and expressed hope that the webinar would about a new platform where Singapore companies can work with and invest in Rwanda. “We hope this is going to be another platform where companies in Singapore will find their trading partners and invest in Rwanda. As the High Commission of Rwanda in Singapore, we welcome all of you with interest in Rwanda and shall do all our utmost to facilitate both trade and investment.”

In her speech, RDB CEO Clare Akamanzi commented that “The Government of Rwanda, just like Singapore very much prioritizes economic development and improvement of the standards of living of its people. We are committed to private sector growth, accelerating economic growth and poverty reduction, and we are committed to an excellent business environment that makes the Private Sector Federation and those who do business in Rwanda very competitive.“

PSF Chief Operations Officer Faustin Karasira noted that, “GlobalConnect@SBF comes as one of the easy ways to enhance the working relationship, hence setting the stage for business members of both SBF and PSF.”

Following the speakers and presentations, a panel session moderated by Enterprise Singapore Regional Director Linn Neo was conducted featuring Surbana Jurong, Yego Innovision Limited, Thunes and Charis UAS. The webinar concluded with a virtual networking session.
